Primeramente, Alana es orgullosamente Mexicana.
Originaria de Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, su luz e inspiración provienen de sus raíces, su familia, y el alma tan hermosa de su país.
Now based in Washington, DC, Alana is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the sticky, tar-like tension existing between life’s opposing forces and the emotions they ignite.
Through painting and poetry her work acts as a fervent love letter to the raw, unspoken corners of existence — conjuring evocative emotional landscapes whose colors scream and fracture between extremes. She invites viewers into dense, often uncomfortable spaces where life’s forces collide, linger, and transform.
Her practice is rooted in searching for meaning and creating community. In times of such sorrow and uncertainty her art exists to lay claim to the spaces where clarity dissolves, where tenderness meets terror, and where the contradictions of being human are felt most acutely.
To Alana, art is a way to confront, embrace, and survive the beautiful violence of existence. As an immigrant, she’s keenly aware of the lack of spaces to process trauma in a world that demands constant resilience. Her works aim to create such a space inviting viewers to touch, disrupt, and connect with pieces to cope with the relentless ache of being alive.
When she’s not in the studio wrestling with a technicolor of existential dread, you’ll find her experimenting with fashion, reading excessively, and just enjoying life.
